Camp Descriptions

EXPLORER CAMPGrades 5-8 - Begins at 9:00am – End time varies, check weekly handout 

 

Weekly from June 17 - August 2– $425/week until 5/1/19. After May 1, $475/week. 

(No Explorer Camp the week of 7/1-7/5.) *Explorer Camp meets 4 days each week. 

The weeks of June 17, June 24, July 8, and July 29 Explorer Camp meets Monday-Thursday.*

The weeks of July 15 and July 22 Explorer Camp meets Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri.   

 

Explorer Camp is buzzing with adventures! Gather your friends, unplug and explore all that Southern California has to offer. 

 

This camp is led by 2 staff members each week. Staff participating in Explorer Camp include; Jennafer Jones, Ben Weiser, Sarah Johnson, Beef Evans, and Elly Thompson.

* This summer there is an on campus 'Camp Assistant' opportunity for Explorer Camp students who need to attend camp on Fridays from June 17-July 12. There will be a Wednesday field trip available the weeks of July 15 and July 22. The week of July 29 will be a 4 day camp week (M-Th) for Explorer Camp participants. 

SPORTS/ ENRICHMENT CAMPGrades K-8—9:00-12:30pm 

 

Weekly from June 17–July 26 - $225/week until 5/1/19. After May 1, $275/week. Classes meet Monday-Friday the weeks of 6/17, 6/24, and 7/8.

Classes meet Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri the weeks of 7/15 and 7/22. Wednesday is a field trip day these two weeks only. 

Sports/Enrichment Camp does not meet 7/1-7/5.

 

Sign up for this exciting combination camp and experience a variety of sports along with enrichment opportunities including crafts, cooking, book making, journaling and engineering.

 

Sports Camp led by Elly Thompson.

Enrichment Camp led by LH staff including Marla L'Angelle, Amber Herrera, Jonell Harvey, and Heidi Moore.

 

Campers are divided into grade level groups and spend half of the time in Sports Camp and the other half in the Enrichment class.

SPANISH CAMPGrades K-3 - 9:00-12:30pm - with Carrie McSherry

June 17-21 - $225 until 5/1/18. After May 1, $275/week.

Class meets 5 days Monday-Friday

 

Come join the fun as we explore the themes of family, pets, animals and beach day in Spanish! Campers will create interactive notebooks and engage in hands on activities, music, art projects and other active fun as they practice their new Spanish language skills.

PROVIDENCE HIGH ARTS SUMMER ACTING CAMPGrades TK-9  

 June 17 – July 12       Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:00pm

TECH CAMPGrades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Jonell Harvey

June 24-June 28 – $225 until 5/1/19. After May 1 tuition increases to $275. 

Class meets 5 days, Monday-Friday. 

 

Let's tap into the amazing world of technology! We will design, navigate and play all while exploring coding, 3D doodle pens, blogging and other tools that will put the cyber world at your fingertips! Come join us for more fun in the computer lab!

SCIENCE CAMPGrades K-3—9:00-12:30pm—with Alison Schooley and Sarah Johnson

July 8-12 - $225 until 5/1/19. After May 1, $275. 

Class meets 5 days, Monday-Friday.

 

Did you know 2 Hydrogen Buffalos + 1 Oxygen Buffalo = 2 Water Buffalos? Or how about that Biology is the only Science where multiplication and division mean the same thing? Come join us for this fun project based learning camp where we will be unraveling the wacky world of science and math!

MATH CAMPGrades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Suzanne Kochamba

July 15-July 19 – $225 until 5/1/19. After May 1, $275. 

Class meets 4 days Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri. (Wednesday field trip)

Come to this action-packed week of math interactive hands on learning opportunities that will help campers sharpen their current math skills and perhaps introduce them to new concepts as well. Learning through games, food and art activities help make math fun!

ART CAMP"Art in Nature" Grades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Carla Itkin

 

July 22-July 26 – $225 until 5/1/19. After May 1, $275. 

Class meets 4 days Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri. (Wednesday field trip) 

Nature is both magical and amazing! Campers will be inspired through the beauty of nature to create wonderful art projects using a variety of materials and techniques.

Wednesday Field Trip, $50 if not enrolled in any Afternoon Camp

GETTING READY CAMP– Grades TK-6 – 9:00-12:30pm - with Laurel Hall Teachers

 

July 29 - August 2 – $250 until 5/1/19. After May 1, $300. 

Class meets 5 days, Monday - Friday.

 

With the school year right around the corner, this program is designed to refresh and review skills from the previous grade level in the areas of Language Arts, Math and Science. Students enrolled (K-5) will receive a language arts review book and math review book to take home at the end of the week for continued practice prior to the start of the new school year. This is an enrichment based program which will include learning games, technology and art.

The youngest students (TK and K) will also be introduced to the classroom setting, routines and procedures at Laurel Hall.

The focus for Grade 6 will be on organizational skills, lockers, getting ready for LHS Middle School along with a review of language arts and math skills.

FIRECRACKER CAMP: ​

Grades K-8  - July 1, 2, and 3. (Camp is closed July 4 and July 5) $50 per day

 

Blast into Firecracker Camp for a "stay-cation" at Laurel Hall! Come any day or all three and enjoy the adventures. 

 

Mon. 7/1: Arcade Mania Day in Outer Space

Have you ever dreamed of being an astronaut and flying to outer space? Join us on this mash up day you won't soon forget. Take a walk on the "moon" after riding the LHS Space Shuttle and have a blast avoiding meteorites upon this voyage. Experience nightlife as an alien at the arcade of magic and dance your boots off at our glow in the dark dance party. Design a planet and collaborate with friends to build a new solar system. Finally, blast off with your super sci-fi rocket jet pack and return home to the greatest planet. 

 

Tues. 7/2: Wizarding World of Sports

Campers will play the role of wizards at the Laurel Hall School of Magic. All wizard's talents will be put to the test to see who will win the game of quidditch. An array of non-traditional and traditional sports will provide unique challenges. Will you win the Triwizard tournament? They say anything is possible with a little bit of magic...so, wave your wand and create the perfect potion on this incredible day. 

 

Wed. 7/3: Pajama Camp Out Day in the USA 

Roll out of bed and head over to Laurel Hall in your favorite pajamas to camp out for the day. Bring your pillow, sleeping bag and teddy bear to camp and participate in a variety of games, team building activities and crafts. End the day around the 'campfire' with a movie and delightful s'more! 

 

Join us for tons of fun as other activities and surprises highlight this special week!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS): 

Grade K-5 – August 5-9 – 9:00am - 3:00pm M-F

 

Heroes of Faith! Join us for a great week with highly trained, enthusiastic staff from Lutheran Retreats Camps & Conferences (LRCC) as they bring us an action-packed week of Day Camp. Campers learn fun songs, games and activities while being introduced to the theme, "Heroes of Faith, an exploration into the women and men in the Bible who were models of courage, faith and love!" The theme verse is "This is my command: Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9) Your kids will be Heroes of Faith! Join in the fun.
