EXPLORER CAMP—Grades 5-8 - Begins at 9:00am – End time varies, depending on activity  

 

Extra, extra, read all about it! Explorer Camp is buzzing with adventures from beaches to mountains and everywhere in between. Gather your friends, unplug and explore all that Southern California has to offer. 

 

This camp is led by 2 staff members each week. Staff participating in Explorer Camp include; Jennafer Jones, Ben Weiser, Sarah Johnson, Beef Evans, and Elly Thompson.

Weekly from June 11 - August 3– $400/week until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $450/week.  (Explorer Camp does not meet the week of 7/2-7/6.)

PERFORMING ARTS CAMPGrades 3-8—9:00-3:00pm - Directed by David Haworth

Feel the excitement of what it is like to be part of a Broadway musical in this three-week camp!

Come take a magic carpet ride to the faraway city of Agrabah and join the adventures of the poor street urchin Aladdin, as he unleashes a hilarious, wish-granting Genie, wins the heart of Princess Jasmine, and becomes a Prince. Discover "A Whole New World" in this fun, adventure filled production of Disney's Aladdin JR! 

 

June 11 - 29 – $750 until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $800.  Meets M/T/Th/F the weeks of 6/11 & 6/18.  The week of 6/25-6/29, Camp meets all 5 days, M-F. Two performances on 6/29 at 2:00pm & 7:00pm.

Wednesday field trip/activity $50 (if not enrolled in Explorer/PAC Afternoon Day Camp)

SPORTS/ ENRICHMENT CAMP—Grades K-8—9:00-12:30pm 

 

Where can you throw a Frisbee and cook delicious treats on the same day? Sign up for this exciting combination camp and experience playing drums and playing lacrosse the same week. You'll be learning about the world, speaking Chinese, creating amazing crafts, and designing your own journal in Enrichment Camp and have a great time in the newly designed Sports Camp.

Enrichment Camp led by LH staff including Marla L'Angelle, Amber Herrera, Lucy Liao, Jonell Harvey, Pati Evans, and Mr. Paul.

 

Campers will be divided into grade level groups and spend half of the time in Sports Camp and the other half in the Enrichment class.

SPANISH CAMP—Grades K-3 - 9:00-12:30pm - with Mily Tovar

June 11-15: 'Explorado Los Animales'- This fun-filled week engages campers with hands-on activities and lessons that teach them about different animals while gaining confidence in speaking Spanish. Art, music, games and creating interactive notebooks help foster interest in learning Spanish.

 

June 18-22: 'Gozando de las Tradiciones Latinas Americanas'- Campers become more knowledgeable of the culture, traditions and customs of a variety of Latin American countries through language, art, music and games. Campers enjoy learning about special holiday traditions related to Las Posadas and Día de los Magos and take part in breaking a piñata.

 

June 11-15 and June 18-22 - $200/week until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $225/week.

Classes meet M/T/Th/F.

TECH CAMP"Computer Chaos and Coding" Grades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Jonell Harvey

 

Wild times are happening in the computer lab this summer! Go on scavenger hunts, play games, design, color and explore all while navigating with a mouse. Learn coding basics to program electronic mice and then watch them go on their own adventures. The mice are on the loose!

 

June 25-June 29 – $200 until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $225.

SCIENCE CAMP"Science Detectives" Gr K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Alison Schooley

What do toothpaste, fertilizer, soap and vitamins have in common? They all contain algae. Do you love a good puzzle or solving a mystery? Come to Science Detectives where everyday we will unravel the mysteries of plants, physics, animals and chemistry. This project based learning camp combines fun with basic scientific knowledge. Who knows? We may plant the seed for the next Marie Curie or Albert Einstein! 

 

July 09-July 13 – $200 until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $225.

MATH CAMP"Number Ninjas" Grades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Sarah Johnson

Come to this action-packed week of Number Ninja training! Training includes using clocks, “money", rulers and candy bars. Then…Complete the scavenger hunt at the end of the week, and become a certified Number Ninja!

 

July 16-July 20 – $200 until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $225.

ART CAMP"Upcycle Your Recycling" Grades K-3—9:00-12:30pm — with Carla Itkin

STOP! Don’t throw that in the blue bin! Instead create useful and fun art projects using recycled bottle caps, crayons, corks, puzzle pieces, and a variety of other objects lurking in the blue bin.

 

July 23-July 27 – $200 until 5/1/18. After May 1 tuition increases to $225.

GETTING READY CAMP– Grades TK-6 – 9:00-12:30pm - with Laurel Hall Teachers

With the school year right around the corner, this program is designed to introduce and refresh students in the areas of Language Arts, Math and Science. This is an enrichment based program which will include learning games, technology and art. The youngest students (TK and K) will also be introduced to the classroom setting, routines and procedures at Laurel Hall. The focus for Grade 6 will be on organizational skills, lockers, and getting ready for Middle School along with a review of language arts and math skills.

 

Weekly from July 30- August 3 – $250 – M/T/W/Th/F

After May 1 tuition increases to $275/week.

SOCIAL DETECTIVE  ACADEMY"Social Detectives" Grades K-8—1:15pm-3:15pm

Come have fun with us and learn how to become a Social Detective by solving social mysteries based on your own experience and observations through the day.  Fun, engaging activities designed to develop emotional intelligence (EQ) and build deeper friendships. 

 

Exciting games, mind-body training and social connection!  Our curriculums are based on  Dr Jeff's "Diary of a Social Detective" book that won multiple awards including Mom's Choice and Teacher's choice. You might already know Dr. Jeff as he's been Laurel Hall's psychologist for many years.

 

June 13th-Aug 3rd – $60/Week or $335 for the whole summer. (discount for shorter weeks)

This camp is not available the week of 7/2-7/6.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS): 

Grade TK-5 – August 6-10 – 9:00am-1:00pm M-F

 

Shipwrecked!  Join us for THE adventure of the summer as we are stranded on an uncharted island and learn all about the One who can rescue us! Great games, lessons, activities, music and fun! Being SHIPWRECKED has never been so fun. You won't want to miss it.

FIRECRACKER CAMP: ​ Grades K-8  - July 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th - 7:45am-6:00pm

POP into Firecracker Camp any day or all four and enjoy a "stay-cation" at Laurel Hall!

 

Mon. 7/2: It's a Crazy, Wacky Day! Anything goes on this crazy, wacky day of fun. Campers play games backwards, create unusual arts and crafts, participate in relays and balloon games and just have crazy fun. Wear crazy hair, wacky socks and dress in as many colors as possible! 

 

Tues. 7/3: Camp Out Day! Everyone is sure to have fun as we pitch our tents in the Laurel Hall wilderness. Campers will compose and sing camp songs, engage in team building activities and tell special camp stories. Of course there will be s'mores! Wear read, white and blue or stars and stripes to celebrate the 4th of July.  

 

Thurs. 7/5: Pajama/Slumber Party Day! Roll out of bed and head over to Laurel Hall in your favorite jammies and enjoy this lazy day of camp. Bring your pillows and sleeping bags for games and activities. Teddy bears welcome! We might even enjoy a movie at the Laurel Hall Drive In. Wear your favorite pajamas (appropriate). Please label pillows and sleeping bags.

 

Fri. 7/6: Hawaiian Day! We wrap up the week by visiting the Laurel Hall Beach. Water play games, pool side lounging, creating colorful arts and crafts, sipping fruit smoothies, hula dancing and limbo are just a few activities that will be enjoyed in our own tropical paradise. Wear a tourist outfit or a colorful Hawaiian shirt.  

 

Other activities and surprises will be a part of this special week. Join us for a day or more and have tons of fun!
